El setlist es estupendo, pero ninguna canción es reciente. Todas tienen ya sus años. Debe ser que estoy pasando una época de desencanto con el enano, pero me da la sensación de que está agotado artísticamente. Ojalá me equivoque. A ver si tener cerca a Janelle Monae le ayuda a recuperar su calidad. Como siempre, sólo es mi opinión.

PRINCE - I only Want 2 CU Laughin' in the Bergen Rain!

(Bergen / PULSE) This is Prince's fourth concert in Norway, and perhaps his weakest ... Yet he rolls 6 in both VG and Dagbladet ... That says a bit about the artist we are talking about here ...

To put it another way: The man can sit on his knees with his back to the audience, and having his hands tied, and still deliver better than 90% of artists out there. The myth and mystery surrounding Prince is all too big to cover in this concert review, but one thing dear Pulse' readers, know this:
The man can play guitar! Forget all the other 20 instruments he plays. Last night, the man played guitar for over 2 hours, and have hereby been given a new name: TGCKNA - "The Guitarrist known as currently Prince."

Pop, rock, soul, gospel ... You name it ... Let's start with The Funk: On the "Controversy" so he played in over 10 minutes with a Tour DeForce radio marathon where he enjoyed with the audience. He threw some "Le Freak" from the disco band "Chic" over his song "Sexy Dancer" before he went back to the bare groove ... All 8.000 jumped and danced with, and it seemed like a while there that Norway was funky.

The highlights are many and varied, because the usual Bergensener, so is the "Purple Rain", "Kiss," "Let's Go Crazy," "Raspberry Beret" and "Cream" big winners ... For the hard-knock fans, however, there were many other nuggets: "Forever in My Life" only with Prince on bass. Underground classic "Shhh" created spiritual / sexual mood with guitar solo. His side project from the early 80's The Time  has always been a fan favorite, but he has never sung these pop-funk songs themselves, Until now ... Here we could hear the man himself singing "Jungle Love," "The Bird" and "Cool". Tracks that only the hard-knock fans have heard before.

Let us by all means don't forget the surprise opening act, from the already "out of print" album "Emancipation" from 1996, he gave us the beautiful "The Love We Make". Gospel-rock ballad at a high level. This was the last song he played the rest of the concert, because the rest of the songs were from the 80s. (Something to think about really, since he has the last 2 years released four new albums.)

He is sadly no longer any good at highlighting the musicians on stage, as he did before. Sheila E.  luckily got a small lead pot, and some of the others got a solo each. (Scandal that not drum saws John Blackwell  did not get more solos.) It is safe to say that this is a "solo tour", where man himself is in focus, and no other. When the light had gone up and people started going home, he appeared again and gave us "Sometimes it snows in April", without a doubt one of the highlights.

The fact that these American artists, however, not be a difference between city and country, it seems the undersigned is pure arrogance. When the Prince sitting in his private Jet, he has time to actually teach you: "City: Bergen. Country: Norway". Then he could at least avoided such embarrassing situations which he cries out words like "this town is Called Norway". This is something that shows off his new penchant for detail, and that's exactly what he has been a lot better at hiding before. At Valle Hovin in '88, Oslo Spektrum in '93, and not least, the Oslo Concert Hall in '02, he was more polished and mysterious. Flawless simply. He is no longer(Though he, ironically, has become a better musician in his old days.)

It is rumored that Prince will play in Oslo Spektrum, before long, and if so, then it is only running to buy, because that Bergensers failed to sell out all tickets are a scandal.
