Cien canciones: la final

Ya hemos llegado. Ahora, a elegir las cien mejores canciones entre las 217 que aquí proponemos. Muchas gracias a todos por la participación, y mucha suerte.

Si me he saltado alguna canción que haya obtenido al menos 3 votos en semifinales y no está aquí, por favor decídmelo. Si hay alguna ausencia que algún forero considere imprescindible, incluso aunque no haya conseguido los 3 votos mínimos y requeridos en las semifinales o en votaciones anteriores, por favor decídmelo tranquilamente. Estudiaremos las propuestas personales de los foreros en función de los votos que dichas canciones hayan obtenido en encuestas pasadas. Por ejemplo, "Still would stand all time" sólo obtuvo dos votos en las semifinales, pero consiguió 17 votos de 24 posibles en los cuartos de final y considero que se ha ganado el pase a la final.

De cara a posibles inclusiones extraordinarias, recuerdo que esta encuesta se cerrará dentro de 25 días. Como siempre, se agradece hacer explícitas las votaciones. Las mías, las haré explícitas en cuanto pueda.

100 canciones son muchas para explicar una a una. Más que las elecciones, comentaría las ausencias: (casi) ninguna de los 80s (¡6 canciones de "Batman"!). Si se quisiera, se podrían dar los 100 votos sin necesidad de salirte de esa década así que parece que estamos bastante de acuerdo en reducir 30 años a esos 9 años.

A pesar de q se podía elegir la friolera de 100 canciones, me resultó muy difícil votar. Creo q eso refleja la increíble carrera del pequeñín.

Ya sé que es mucho trabajo hacer explícitas las cien canciones, pero al menos se agradecen comentarios como los que han hecho eldoctorjota y PatricioRey. Se pueden comentar muchas cosas, como las posibles ausencias, las posibles injusticias, las grandes sorpresas o cuáles son vuestras favoritas para hacerse con más votaciones. Muchísimas gracias por tu generosidad, como siempre, IwishUheaven. A ver si más gente se anima a escribir sus votos o, por lo menos, a votar.

Comentando un poco las 217 canciones que han llegado a la final, llama la atención que una amplísima mayoría de los temas pertenezcan a discos oficiales (como en cierto modo era de esperar, los discos de Warner Bros están casi todos excepto "Chaos and disorder"; incluso sorprende una inclusión tan amplia de los remixes de "Ultimate"). Hay pocos outtakes, en comparación; ni tampoco demasiados temas cantados por otros artistas ni apenas versiones. Todo ello daría la razón a Prince, que quizá sabe mejor de lo que parece por qué elige las canciones que incluye en sus discos. No obstante, hay suficientes outtakes de categoría como para entrar en las 100 mejores canciones, lamentar que no tengan disco oficial o ilusionarse plenamente con seguir buscando inéditos.

Llama la atención, lógicamente, la inclusión de "Beautiful, loved and blessed" en esta lista (sobre todo cuando hay temas de "3121" claramente mejores; como "The word", señalada por el propio IwishUheaven). Siendo mal pensados, me imagino que estamos ante el típico caso de broma infantil; incluso cabe la posibilidad de que todos los votos a esta canción hayan sido por parte de clones. Pero aún así se agradece la atención, porque creo que al final las 100 canciones elegidas tendrán mucho peso y valor por sí mismas.

Sorprende menos que todas las canciones de "1999" y "Purple rain" hayan llegado hasta aquí, demostrando por qué son discos históricos. También destaco que haya más canciones de "Musicology" que de "3121", álbum que a su vez empata con "Planet Earth". Viendo otras encuestas del Poblado donde se valora más "3121" que los otros dos, como las creadas por dogame y PatricioRey, se puede concluir que un disco no te gusta más porque tenga más canciones brillantes. Sino por la totalidad del conjunto.

Como nota paradójica, resalto que todos los temas de "The very best of Prince" y del primer disco de "Ultimate" están aquí. En cierto modo, los fans estamos de acuerdo con WB; o es que hay canciones tan buenas que son universales.

Escribiendo los votos o no, al fin y al cabo no existe ninguna obligación y todos entendemos perfectamente que lo que en general nos falta es tiempo.

Lo que si sería bonito es que ya en la final, al menos se llegase a la participación máxima que han dado las rondas anteriores: 26.

Hago un nuevo llamamiento y animo a que cada uno haga su aportación personal que al fin y al cabo es lo que hará que el resultado final sea más o menos representativo.

Yo he echado de menos algunas canciones, como por ejemplo Don´t play me , una declaración de principios en toda regla de forma basica, con su guitarra acustica, y muy directa.
También eché de menos Electric Chair, una electrizante canción con un guiño a los rolling stones. The Undertaker una sensual bala creada con una sola base de rock: guitarra, bajo y batería.
Y por último nombrar los temas Fury y While my Guitar gently weeps en donde Prince se desdobla a sí mismo para demostrarnos el por qué es un genio a la guitarra haciendo esos solos donde no queda lugar a duda de su virtuosismo ke todos alguna vez hemos soñado poder tener.
Que os parece?

Muchas gracias, panicoescenico, por realizar el esfuerzo de poner tus cien canciones favoritas. Aunque hayamos votado pocos, en realidad estoy muy contento por el resultado: pocos pero valientes.

Ya se va viendo más claro cuáles son las 100 canciones favoritas de Prince para el Poblado. Pero todavía tenemos casi una semana para votar (la encuesta se cierra el 19 de abril) y (espero que) no se haya dicho aún la última palabra. A ver ese último impulso necesario que pueda ayudar a crear una encuesta lo más objetiva posible, cosa que depende sobre todo del número de votantes.

iarylif, coincido contigo en que ya hay muchas canciones que ya no están. Cada uno tenemos nuestras ausencias, yo por poner un ejemplo echo de menos Do it all night. Es lo que tiene votar sobre una discografía tan amplia. Se han necesitado varias rondas para que el filtro dejase fuera buenas canciones pero poco a poco vamos llegando.

Yo personalmente me siento conforme de como van las cosas porque si alguna de mis preferidas se quedó atrás no fue porque no la votase.

Las canciones que han obtenido 7 votos lucharán en un desempate descarnado para entrar en las 100 mejores. Las canciones que han obtenido 6 votos o menos, lamentablemente tienen que quedarse fuera.

Ya en la ronda anterior no había ninguna canción representativa de los álbumes "Goldnigga", "1-800 new funk", "Girl 6", "Chaos and disorder", "Kamasutra", "The truth", "Xpectation", "N-E-W-S" ni "The slaughterhouse". No entra en las cien canciones ninguna versión, ninguna canción de Prince cantada por otro artista ni ninguna cara b que no esté incluida en "The hits/ the B-sides".

Conclusiones a bote pronto: los pobladores le damos la razón a WB, votando canciones de casi todos los discos de esta compañía (incluso "Ultimate"). La mejor época de Prince, para los pobladores, es la década de los años 80; ni más ni menos que 65 canciones grabadas en esos años. Tendemos, además, más a votar canciones conocidas y/o comerciales que experimentales. Las ausencias son muy significativas, en este sentido.

Por otra parte, resalta que estén representadas todas las canciones de "Purple rain"; y, por otra parte, hay que señalar que el álbum que más canciones aporta a la lista es "Sign "O" the times" con 12. Normal que sean clásicos. Llama también la atención que tan sólo haya dos canciones sin disco, que por otra parte ya se pueden considerar clásicas: "Electric intercourse" y "F.U.N.K.". Hay una buena representación de la mal llamada "shit trilogy": ni más ni menos que 7 canciones entre "Musicology", "3121" y "Planet Earth".
