Hace mucho tiempo que no inicio ningún juego encuesta de estos para pasar el rato y ver diferencias entre gustos. En lo que esperamos a que vayan saliendo canciones del nuevo disco, así como su lanzamiento oficial, se me ha ocurrido un juego que posiblemente ya se haya hecho en el poblado a lo largo de su historia. También es cierto que muchos de los que comentaron en aquel entonces ahora no se encuentran por aquí y muchos de los que ahora participan en le foro no estaban cuando dicho juego existió.
Consta de lo siguiente: Nombras las 20 mejores canciones de Prince de su carrera, cada uno elige las suyas personales. Vale cualquier canción de sus álbumes oficiales como de sus bandas satélites, así como versiones que haya hecho de otros artistas. Vale todo.
No tienen por qué estar colocadas en orden, sólo hace falta nombrar las 20 que mas le guste a cada uno de toda su carrera. Trabajo casi imposible, así que a estrujarse el coco y a participar quien quiera.

El otro día me dio por poner dos discos que tengo abandonadísimos y llenos de polvo en la estantería. Nunca les he dado demasiada importancia, sabía que tenían algún que otro tema interesante pero ninguna locura. Los discos son ''Exodus'' de Prince la New Power Generation y el otro ''1-800-New-Funk''.
Para mi sorpresa que descubrí temas que su día no me llamaron para nada la atención y que hace cosa de 2-3 días me partieron en dos. Hay calidad ahí.

Pensé en hacerlo, pero no sería realista por una sencilla razón.
Supongamos que elegimos una canción por disco, sólo una. También supondremos que la ganadora en el disco ''Sign O' The Times'' es la propia ''Sign O' The Times''. En el disco ''N.E.W.S.'' supongamos que queda con más votos ''South''.
''South'' es la más votada del ''N.E.W.S.'' pero de formar parte del ''Sign O' The Times'' sería de las peores sin duda. Canciones como ''I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man'' o ''Housequake'' son mil veces mejores que ''South'', en cambio al no ser las más votadas de su disco, estarían por debajo de ''South''.
No sé si me explico...

Han puesto las míticas y ''Breakdown'' que no pinta absolutamente nada en ese listado.
Que conste que me encanta The Breakdown,de hecho junto con Time y con Way back home constituyen lo mejor publicado por Prince desde The Rainbow Children....pero de ahí a meterla entre las diez mejores de todos los tiempos hay un mundo,simplemente en los ochenta hay mas de 30 canciones mejores que The Breakdown.

Tarde, pero vengo a desbaratar las estadisticas con mi selección de temas, que quizas no sean los mejores de Prince, pero son los que mas me gustan.
Sin un orden en particular:
- Papa : Me encantan las guitarras distorsionadas, como, junto a la voz de Prince, saben dar enfasis a la letra, que, a pesar de ser oscura, termina con un mensaje positivo
- Dear Mr Man: una medida de funk, y una de jazz, en un tema tranquilo con arreglos de vientos sutiles pero muy ajustados
- Pop Life: en mi opinion, son contados los artistas capaces de hacer arreglos tan buenos, y producir los temas tan bien. Este es un ejemplo de la genialidad del funk de prince, cada sonido en este tema tiene su lugar, esta lleno de detalles, pero no hay nada demas.
- She Spoke to Me (la version extendida): Me encanta el Jazz, y me encanta la forma en que termina este tema.
- Cream: que pedazo de tema, y la letra no puede ser mas motivadora!
- Bambi (version de Undertaker): Prince luciendose a la guitarra, cantando con fuerza, que potencia! que banda! para escucharlo bien fuerte
- Dolphin: al principio no me llamaba mucho la atencion, pero con el tiempo se convirtio en un favorito.
- Zanalee (version del video): junto con The Ride, quizas lo mejor de Blues que Prince haya hecho.
- Hide the Bone: funk sencillo pero muy pegadizo.
- Calhoun Square: quizas no este entre los favoritos de todo el mundo, pero si tuviera que armarme un disco de prince para el auto, lo pondria seguro.
- Da Bang: me encantan las transiciones entre la tranquilidad de los versos y la potencia de los estribillos, la voz de prince que suena despreocupada, y por supuesto, el slap de bajo.
- What's my name: Si Prince explotara, y todo su funk saliera despedido en todas direcciones, sonaria como este tema.
- Space: no puedo creer que este tema no haya tenido un video, es tan grafico, y como single, tan solido, que se convirtio en mi tema favorito.
- Pink Cashmere: la voz de Prince suena muy dulce, vulnerable a veces, y potente y convencido en otras. Un perfecto tema de amor.
- When eye lay my hands on u: la musica acompaña el mood de una letra intimidantemente, que tramsmite esa tension sexual con la que seguro mas de uno se siente identificado.
- Boom: una decision dificil, ya que en mi opinion, junto con From the lotus.. y Crimson & Clover forman la mejor obertura de un disco de Prince, los elegiria a los 3.
- Get on the Boat
- Chelsea Rodgers
- Musicology
- FUNKNROLL: estos ultimos en un estilo de funk muy parecido, son los temas que me engancharon de Prince al principio, y que al dia de hoy siguen estando entre mis favoritos.
No me parece una mala lista, y Breakdown es un temazo. Y when you were you mine tambien, aunque no haya sido una de mis 20. Me sorprendo de la cantidad de las canciones de los 90 en nuestras listas.
Por lo del rap que se ha comentado. Considero que no son malos temas. Quizas un poco largos, pero nunca malos.

Las conclusiones son claras y creo que no sorprenden en absoluto. En El Poblado somos unos nostálgicos y nos decantamos por las canciones de los años 80, con especial predilección por las incluidas en "Purple Rain" y "Sign O´ the Times" (3 canciones por cada uno de estos álbumes). De los años 90, nos quedamos con el primer lustro (no llegamos a 1995, en realidad). Y del siglo XXI tan sólo reverenciamos una canción: "3121".
