Spending all that time at Paisley Park was incredible. It was like Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, or the Wizard of Oz. It's this larger than life compound that is just his world. The minute you walk through the door you're in Prince's world. It's all about being creative. It's all about music. Everything you did there was recorded. Sometimes we would just go into the studio and jam with members of my band and members of his band. We'd come up with grooves, just instrumental stuff. He would film it and record it. He called them "mementos" and hand me a cassette when we were done. This is before printing CDs. He'd say, "This is just for you. I have the master tape here and I'm gonna lock it up."

He didn't want to show people or exploit it. It was just for us. It was a moment we knew about and nobody else. That's really cool, man. Everything isn't for business. It's for the sake of doing it. It's about the art, the moment, the memory and the experience. I think that's beautiful.

"I am deeply hurt and at loss for words. Prince was my musical soul mate, we had a marriage in music. He was a genius and original. He had compassion and grace. He recently reached out to help me through one of the toughest moments in my life. I was truly blessed to be hand-picked by Prince himself to be a part of his band, The New Power Generation. I will miss him immensely. "

Morris Hayes:

Hello FB fam. This is my first post since the tragic loss of my brother, Prince. I am here in Mpls. with my former band mates and co-workers to grieve, hug, laugh and most of all figure out what happen with my brother Prince. I know it's hard for us the band, administration, crew and the lovers of his work to not have a central place to pay our respects, but last night we were able to at least get together with a few friends and celebrate this great man's life. I so wish you could have felt the love I did last night. One thing is for sure, know that The Revolution, The N.P.G., Sheila E., 3rd Eye Girl, The Time, The Family, Mazarati and all the rest represented there last night love you, the lovers of his work, and will always be grateful for your concern and support. Without you, there is no us. You have been good to us and we will continue to be good to you. Please know that all those groups live on. This shot here is part of the justice league of keyboard players minus the greats, Renato Neto, Cassandra O'Neal, Kip Blackshire, Chance Howard, Rosie Gaines, the late Bonnie Boyer, Gayle Chapman and Rad. (Hope I didn't overlook anyone!) We missed you last night. Much love everyone and peace and be wild!

I have not done much media since this all happened but I am willing to talk about things positive and eye opening. I am glad to be a part of this crowd. Thanks for all the love from you all. It's been amazing and I'm still filtering through the messages. Bare with me. You are the best. Be well my Purple Family.

I have to say thank you to the baddest dude and the baddest band to grace the game. Prince, thank you for making me a part of music history for 20 years. You will forever be my hero and my friend. To all of my band mates, I love you guys. Prince family...we. love. YOU!!
(Sorry for the haircut. I was young, I needed the money.)

:smash: :laugh4: :laugh4: :laugh4:
